Mother's Day

As per tradition, my Mother's Day started with a glorious lie-in followed by presentation of a card, some little gifts and breakfast in bed. Jemima's smiling face as she proudly brought in my cereal - which she told me she'd made all by herself - was a picture. Lovely. Then we had a good lounge before our Mother's Day lunch.

Jemima and I had booked a table at Mood to show it to Daddy, so we repeated our sunny walk through the marina to the restaurant. We'd booked for a lot later and it was full when we got there, so we had a breezy drink on the terrace before our table was ready. Then it was colouring, a lovely bottle of red wine, and Sunday lunch all round.

Kevin was suitably impressed - they do a great job, with good food and a wonderful setting. And even better, there were two families with kids for Jemima to play with, so once the eating bit was over she disappeared with them, having a ball, while Kevin and I had one more drink (later regretted - unlike the reasonable pricing of the rest of the menu, Kevin's gin and tonic cost €15...). Much later, we wandered back to the flat after a suitably celebratory day.

Kevin knows how much I love a bad pun...
