Weird science

Today was Jemima's turn for fun. After being so good at our grown-ups' Wonderland yesterday, today, as a thank you, we took her to the Science Park, a Willy Wonka-land of exciting things to push, pull, examine and throw. I'd got our Granada Pass tickets here on Saturday, and from that brief visit I thought it might be good - and it was brilliant. From the birds of prey flying show, to the Eureka room with all sorts of fundamental physics experiments you could recreate, to the 'Animals in Action' display (including taxidermied deer and lions in an amazing airborne chase), the butterfly house, and the giant Foucault's Pendulum, there was more here than we could possibly do in a day. Apart from the birds of prey (which I think Kevin and I enjoyed more than Jemima), she LOVED it. We had lunch, turned a few more cogs and pulled a few more levers, and then headed home.

A quiet early evening, then we thought we'd try out the campsite restaurant. The service was surly, the food was just about good enough, but mainly it was fun to be out for dinner, (slightly) dressed up, Jemima behaving angelically, and generally having jolly family time.

It was chilly walking back - I wore my coat for the first time in many weeks. We've come full circle - from woolly hats to sunhats and now very soon to woolly hats again. Sadly, that might be it for the warm weather - we're going to have to go away again...
