Day 8 - 13/2 - Pool to hot tub to pool

We woke up tired - it’s been a non-stop week! So, as the sun was shining we decided on a morning by the hotel’s small but attractive rooftop pool before heading out for more sightseeing in the afternoon.

Well, the sightseeing bit never quite happened….

Jemima happily read her Kindle in the hot tub, then cooled off in the swimming pool, then returned to the hot tub - and did that on repeat all day. (She’s working her way through the Thursday Murder Club books, and loving them.)

I also read my Kindle, on a sun lounger in the shade (first, frothy Jill Mansell for fun, followed by Lioness by Emily Perkins for absorption - recommended), while Kevin listened to Hank Williams.

And, apart from a late lunch in the bar area, that was it! We got there at 11am, and left at 7pm. It was blissful - and much needed downtime after so much activity.

The only downside was, when the sun moved late in the afternoon, my legs ended up in the sun - and I, foolishly, thought I’d be alright with no suncream at that time. That was a mistake, and I now have pink legs as a result.  (And I’m normally so careful!)

But as I say, there’s no failure, only feedback - and it was a good lesson in how strong the sun is. I will be sun creaming us all up from now on!

Only one photo from today:

  1. What a busy time you are having! The diversity of your sightseeing and culinary choices is impressive. Lots of research beforehand I’m sure. BA is an amazing city but somehow the nation has never quite fulfilled its potential. Good to see you had a rest day. We like the pic of the spa pool and really enjoy all the other photos especially Jemima’s contributions.
