Sicilian heat

Today was a scorcher, our hottest day of this trip, maybe both trips. In the morning Kevin headed into the local town to replenish our funds, and came back very hot after a 4km hike over the mountain. Meanwhile, Jemima and I did lots of washing and played playdough in the shade - hanging washing is a lot more fun in a bikini.

Lunch outside Beatrix, then off to the pool, and more interaction with the other residents. It turns out that this is a climbing centre: everywhere we look are wiry types with big shoulders and six packs - women as well as men, of all ages, and even their children are lean and amazing climbers. A range of nationalities too: French, Swedish, Swiss German, Polish, and more English. We had fun sharing pool toys, and splashing about, although the pool was FREEZING - Jemima refused to get more than her legs in (and to be honest, I couldn't blame her). Then a beer enjoying the view; and a barbecue back at Beatrix (delicious steak and salad, again, eaten outside); and our first evening with all the windows open - it was still 19 degrees at 10pm. And it's going to be hot again tomorrow. Hurrah.
