Third time lucky

With a run of fine weather starting, we were determined to find a suitable venue to enjoy it (basically a beach/ pool and ideally other children). So for the first time, we bypassed a site: Selinunte, only just down the road; but we've done very well on Greek temples so far, so it wasn't a [Greek] tragedy (ha ha).

Our first destination was a partner site to our favourite one so far, so we had hopes. But it had a neglected air, and no beach, so we went on. Our second, not much further down the coast, had been recommended by another motorhomer, and it was pretty, and very well kept; but there was no beach, and only one other motorhome (no kids). So, after a lunch on the front looking at the fishing boats,  on again.

And then we found it. One of our favourite places in Spain was a nature reserve called Cabo de Gata, and the promontory of San Vito Lo Capo reminded us of it: high cliffs, beautiful sea, untouched countryside. We could have happily wild camped next to a beach just off the road; but Beatrix needed servicing and we were still hoping to find "the children". So down and up a little lane on the cliff edge, and we found a campsite: friendly people, full of flowers, with an amazing view over the bay, a huge pool, and - yes, other children.

An afternoon of settling in and making friends in the play park; then dinner in the restaurant with the view; and to bed with plans to enjoy it all properly tomorrow.
